Schumacher Auto AG (Oberwil BL)

We are a family business in the 3rd generation. My grandfather, Oskar Bloch replaced the horse-drawn stagecoach in 1928 and the Flüh-Hofstetten-Mariastein-Metzerlen postbus line was introduced. Even then, additional services were offered on Sundays from Flüh to Mariastein (place of pilgrimage).

In 1964 my parents, Alice and Ernst Schumacher, took over the business and steadily expanded it. The two-wheeler business with representations of the brands Piaggio, Condor, Allegro and Mondia as well as the tractor representation of Magirus-Deutz and the gas station were important mainstays. This was followed by the commercial representation of Fiat, VW and NSU. The two-wheeler business was moved to Flüh in 1978 and later sold.

When I joined my parents' business in 1983, we only repaired and sold 4-wheel vehicles and represented the VW and Audi brands. In addition, we were postbus operators with 3 maxibuses.

In 1992 we expanded the business with the post bus garage and tire service.

In 2000 my wife Karen and I took over the business. Since June 2005 our company is ISO certified. In October 2005 the former post office garage in Laufen was integrated with 3 employees and since then our post office cars are also serviced in Laufen. In 2006 we were able to expand the offer in Metzerlen with the brand Skoda. In 2007 we demolished the outdated spare parts warehouse and replaced it with a functional new office building. In 2008 the showroom in Metzerlen was provided with a new floor. In Laufen we took over the Iveco representation in 2009. In 2010 we closed the gap between the old and the new building in Metzerlen with a double-lane modern dialog reception. In the same year, the parking lot was expanded, illuminated and a dozen trees were planted.

2011 was the year of reorganization: the single company Garage Schumacher became Schumacher Auto AG and Schumacher Bus AG.

In October 2011 we took over another garage business in Oberwil and opened the first VW Direct Express in Switzerland.

As of March 2016, we reactivated the Ford brand in Oberwil, which was previously located there.
