In 1970 Karl Rüedi founded his own cab company. His first employee as a cab driver was also a car mechanic, which made it possible to carry out minor repairs and conversions himself. In the meantime, the cab fleet grew steadily and the employees as well as their relatives and friends also had cars that needed to be maintained and repaired. As a result, demand increased steadily, and Karl Rüedi founded the Gundeli Garage in 1974. In 1991, Centra-Garage followed, acting as a Saab agency for only five years and finally becoming the official main Volvo agency in Basel in 1996.
